1966 50c MS65
Tax included.
February 14th 1966 marked the introduction of decimal currency to Australia.
The round 50c was a one year only type. It was quickly realised that producing these coins with an 80% silver content was not feasible due to the value of silver.
Another complaint from members of the public was the similarities in dimensions to the 20c piece which would potentially lead to confusion between the denominations particularly with vision impaired members of the public.
