The final release in the Looney Tunes series features TASMANIAN DEVIL, commonly referred to as Taz. TASMANIAN DEVIL debuted in the 1954 short Devil May Hare featuring BUGS BUNNY. His personality is purportedly based on the real life Australian marsupial, particularly its insatiable appetite and disagreeable temperament. Pacified only by music, Taz is ferocious, impatient, devious and prone to terrible tantrums. Chewing through almost anything, spinning like a tornado, and emitting rough grunts, growls and screeches, he is like no other contemporary Warner Bros. cartoon character in his extremes of craziness!
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the TASMANIAN DEVIL 2018 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin.
The reverse of the coin features TASMANIAN DEVIL appearing to burst out of the concentric rings of the Looney Tunes logo. The design also includes the inscription TASMANIAN DEVIL and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date and the monetary denomination are depicted on the coin’s obverse.
