The platinum Britannia series was first launched in 2017, and was an instant success. The Royal Mint decided to extend its range of the Britannia series to include platinum due to both the increased demand in platinum as an investment, and the success of the Britannia coin series, which is one of the best selling bullion coins in Europe.
