2024 50 years of NAIDOC Committee Limited-Edition 2-Coin

The National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) traces its beginnings to the early 1900s when Indigenous rights activists stood up against the injustices faced by Indigenous Australians. Over the years, NAIDOC has transformed into the annual National NAIDOC Week, observed each July. This observance serves as both a celebration and a period of reflection, offering an opportunity for Australians to acknowledge and appreciate the rich heritage, culture, and contributions of First Nations Australians. NAIDOC Week 2024 holds special significance as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of a fully Indigenous-led National NAIDOC Committee. This milestone celebrates the dedication and relentless efforts of the National NAIDOC Committee's members, past and present, and those who will follow, ensuring the continuance and success of National NAIDOC Week.
