This coin celebrates James Bond’s association with the Aston Martin DB5. Debuting 60 years ago in 1964’s Goldfinger, the sleek ‘silver birch’ sports car remains synonymous with the iconic British Secret Service agent. Created by former intelligence officer and author Ian Fleming in 1953, James Bond featured in 12 novels and two short story collections before producers Albert R. ‘Cubby’ Broccoli and Harry Saltzman brought him to cinema screens for the first time in 1962.

Bond’s arsenal of gadgets and weaponry included the Aston Martin DB5, equipped with front-mounted machine guns, a bullet-proof rear shield, and a passenger-side ejector seat among Q Branch’s many modifications. This car became a quintessential symbol of Bond. To popular approval, the sleek ‘silver birch’ sports car made a long-awaited reappearance in 2006’s Casino Royale, the first Bond movie starring Daniel Craig. With the acclaimed actor behind the wheel in sequels Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die, the DB5 contributed to some of the franchise’s most memorable moments, cementing its iconic status in movie history forever.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the James Bond Daniel Craig 2024 1oz Silver Proof Coloured Coin.
