The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series 2016 1/2oz Silver Proof Three-Coin Set
The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series continues in 2016 with the release of the third three-coin set, featuring a trio of commemorative coins depicting symbolic images and themes relating to Australia and New Zealand’s involvement on the Western Front.
Each coin is struck from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
Brothers in Arms
The coin’s reverse depicts a representation of one of the original Thuillier photographs featuring a white Australian soldier alongside an unknown Indigenous Australian soldier, taken at the Thuillier’s farmhouse in Vignacourt during the First World War. The design includes a red poppy, the inscription ‘1916 – Brothers in Arms’, and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
The individuals featured in the reverse design are now deceased.
Lost but not Forgotten
The coin’s reverse depicts a representation of Peter Corlett’s Cobbers statue, which resides near Fromelles. The design features a colour representation of the fields of Fromelles, alongside a black and white representation of no man’s land as it was during the First World War. The design includes the inscription ‘1916 – Lost but not Forgotten’, a red poppy, and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Australia’s First Anzac Day
The coin’s reverse depicts an image of the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The design includes the inscription ‘1916 – Australia’s first Anzac Day’, and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2016 year-date, the monetary denomination, and the coin’s weight and fineness on its obverse.
No more than 5,000 of The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series 2016 1/2oz Silver Proof Three-Coin Set will be released by The Perth Mint.
The three-coin set is presented in a round tray which fits inside a beautifully illustrated shipper featuring First World War photography, and is accompanied by a booklet containing information and imagery from the Great War. The booklet contains a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
